Guardian Dogs

This is "Mr T"  our Great Pyrenees livestock guardian and stud dog. We refer to him as Mr. since he runs the place with a firm hand.  When we vaccinate, tag or trim the goats he keeps a sharp eye on us, then checks each one out up close and personal when we have completed our task. If the other dogs get in a fight, they know he will be there with a sharp reprimand. We have yet to lose a goat to a predator with him on duty. Female guardian dog, Opal. So dedicated to her job that while she was pregnant and her goats went walk-a-bout
she remained with them the full 15 days. Although the goats were in some very dangerous predator country i.e. wolves, bears, cats, and coyote, Opal didn't lose one goat. All were found safe and sound and Opal went on to have her puppies four weeks later. Good Girl!! Opal comes from www.wolfmoonboergoats.com Owned by Betty and Ron Cory of Fernwood, ID.
